Monday Feb 24, 2020
Monday Feb 24, 2020
Should I actively use Instagram for my Side Gig?
Recently I had a great in-depth conversation with Elena Ciccotelli from the Side Gig Central Podcast. She had all the questions.
Why should every side gig entrepreneur actively use Instagram. How do I know my audience is on Instagram?
Why is it important to have an Instagram business account?
Why is it so important to show up consistently on Instagram with quality content?
And here’s my favorite question, what are your best tips or strategies for avoiding distractions when you’re inside the app posting content and commenting and how can we all avoid the endless scroll?

The Power of Pinterest with Raquell Barton
Have you been wondering how you can use Pinterest to your advantage? Today, you are in for a treat. Our guest Raquell is here to help us understand the ins and outs of Pinterest.
Raquell Barton is a virtual assistant who specializes in Pinterest management. She is here to explain to us how we use Pinterest to better our businesses.
Listen in and learn.
Is Pinterest marketing right for business? (03:40-04:21)
Pinterest is a virtual search engine. If your ideal clients hang out on Pinterest, then Pinterest marketing is for you. Also, you need to find out if it aligns with your goals.
How do you get started with Pinterest? (04:54-08:23)
The first step is to create a Pinterest business account. A business account is better than a personal account since it helps you view the analytics and even allows you to keep pins a secret when you don’t want them to be seen by other people.
How much time do you need to invest in Pinterest marketing? (08:38- 17:35)
The amount of time that you invest in Pinterest depends on your goal. Come up with a strategy and decide how often you’ll be pinning. Feel free to recycle pins with different descriptions.
You might be wondering if it is okay to one pin across multiple boards. It is totally okay!
Why should someone hire a Pinterest manager? (19:45- 20:47)
Pinterest can be overwhelming, especially if you don’t have the time and the know-how to manage the account. Also, it will allow you to work with an expert.

EP 28 - My Top 10 Tips for Instagram Success

My Top 10 Tips for Instagram Success
Welcome to the New Year and the new decade. If you are looking to grow your Instagram this year, this episode is for you. I will be sharing my top 10 tips for Instagram success.
Listen in and learn.
My top 10 tips for Instagram success
- Plan and schedule your content: This tip will help you remain relevant, consistent, and even save you time. Make use of scheduling tools like Planoly.
- Make use of branded images/ graphics: This will help you grow your brand and stand out on Instagram.
- If you don’t use Instagram stories apps, it’s time for you to make good use of them. Download a few of your favorites. They give your stories a creative edge. I like to use Unfold, Mojo, Story Chic and Canva.
- Make use of stock photos: It is essential to ensure to mix them on your feed. Unsplash.com is among the sites that offer free images.
- Incorporate video in your posting strategy, either 60 seconds clips in your post feed, upload a video to your IGTV, or add videos to your Instagram stories. One of my favorite apps to create fun and eye-catching videos is Quik or download Video Shop.
- When writing captions or any content for Instagram, make sure you stick to your niche.
- Hashtags: I cannot emphasize enough how vital hashtags are for Instagram. Think of hashtags like a mini search engine for Instagram. They allow your posts to get discovered by other users. Never post without hashtags either in your captions or in the comments. Also, don’t keep using the same hashtags day after day.
- Create Instagram stories highlights: This tip has been instrumental in growing my email list.
- If video absolutely terrifies you. Use headliner. It is a desktop-only tool for now. The tool creates audio recordings for a graphic or photo. I love using this tool. You can create audio files for your feed posts or Instagram stories.
- Have an online support system or community within Instagram. Having an online community of like-minded people helps keep you accountable, consistent, and, more importantly, motivated to move in the right direction. Find people similar to you and in your niche industry and create a group.
Those are the tips, and I hope you have great success on Instagram this year.

EP 27 - Why the HUSTLE mentality is NOT sustainable in business
Monday Jan 20, 2020
Monday Jan 20, 2020
Why the Hustle Mentality is not Sustainable for Business with Lindsay Maloney
You have to hustle to make it, or you have to hustle to grow your business. How many times have you heard these phrases? Hustle is not sustainable for business. Our guest Lindsay Maloney educates us on how to get over the hustle mentality.
Lindsay is a business and success coach. Also, she’s a rapid transformational practitioner, and she helps coaches do the inner and the outer work so they can create and scale their coaching businesses with simplicity.
Stay tuned and learn from Lindsay.
Why the word hustle doesn’t resonate with Lindsay? (02:32-08:36)
Lindsay believes that you don’t have to work for 18 hours a day for you to succeed or grow your business. All you need to do is tap into your intuition and find out what feels right.
How can you grow a business without a hustle? (09:05-11:29)
You don’t need to work for many hours a day to make things happen. If you have great systems, you’ve learned from people who can teach you things that work, and you have a great support team, then you will be able to do things.
How can you get out of hustle mentality? (12:02-14:13)
Your value is not tied to a dollar sign. You are so much more than a dollar sign or an enrollment number in your program or clients. Stop putting yourself up to these things that you have no control over. If you have things on your to-do list that don’t match up with your vision, they need to go somewhere else.
Memorable Quotes from the Episode:
“Your value is not tied to a dollar sign.”
“You don’t need that many hours a day to make things happen.”
“Go back and think to yourself, does it fit your why?”

EP 26 - The Good The Ugly and What 2019 Taught Me
Monday Jan 13, 2020
Monday Jan 13, 2020
The Good, the Ugly and what 2019 has Taught Me
2020 is here, and it’s an excellent time to sit back and take stock of last year. One year ago, I made audacious goals for my business. I felt on top of the world. I felt unstoppable. Fast forward 12 months, reality check.
Let’s dive in.
The Ugly (01:05-02:57)
- Have at least 500 membership subscribers: I did not attain this goal. Was it unattainable? My membership didn’t launch until March
- Make $7500 per month. Another goal that I did not achieve. I put all my eggs in one basket. I was relying on the membership to take-off
- Lose 20 pounds. At least with this goal, I’m not badly off. I have lost 6 pounds
The Good (03:00-04:10)
- I launched this podcast that you’re listening to, and it surpassed my expectations. I never thought I’d create, write, interview and host my own show for anyone to listen crazy
- I launched the membership, and I have some amazing members
- I also vowed in 2019 that I would plan monthly date nights with my husband and I think we only missed one month
- I have sharpened my photography skills
- I joined a fitness program
Lessons learnt (04:11-05:28)
One of the major lessons I have learnt in 2019 is clarity. I thought I was crystal clear on my business until I listened to a podcast episode from the Mompreneur Mastermind Show, which is by Stefanie Gass on quieting the noise.
How to Make Better Goals for 2020
I realized all my 2019 goals were based on money alone. My goals and intentions were not aligned. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I made. Here are three questions to ask yourself as you set goals for the year 2020:
- Is it going to make you happy?
- Does it fire you up?
- Are you excited to do it, and does it align with your business?
- That’s it for the good, the ugly, and what 2019 has taught me.
